Like a Doctor, But For Your Car

Don't Forget To Clean Your Car's Carpet

When you decide to detail your car and clean out the inside, you don't want to forget to clean the carpet. Cleaning the carpet in your car will be a good way to make sure your car looks nice and clean and smells really nice. You may think that it's difficult to clean the carpeting in your car, but it is actually pretty easy.

Vacuum

Before you do anything, you want to make sure that you vacuum out your car. If you have a handheld vac, this would be a good time to break it out and clean everything out really well. If you don't have a handheld vacuum, if your vacuum has a removable hose and crevice tool, that can be a good option to use as well. If you don't have either, go check out a self-serve carwash. They generally have industrial vacuums that you can use, which should have no problem sucking everything up and out of your carpet.

Treat Stains

If you have stains in your carpeting, this would be a good time to treat them to see if you can get rid of them as much as possible. If you can get the majority of the stain out before you start cleaning the full carpet, you may be able to totally get rid of it. There are a variety of ways you can treat the stain. How you treat it primarily depends on what kind of stain it is. For example, if you have an ink stain on your carpet, you want to use some hair spray to take that out. Spray the area liberally, add a little salt, then wipe the area with a damp cloth, going in small circles. If you have a grease stain on your carpet, then you are going to want to use something like paint thinner.

Clean the Carpet

Once you have treated the stains, it's time to clean the carpet. The way to do that is to get some carpet cleaning chemicals and a good stiff brush. There are cleaning solutions that are designed for your car, so you might want to use them. Then you want to start working that cleaner into the carpeting with the brush. Don't completely soak the carpeting, because you don't want to leave any moisture under the carpeting. Once you have done that and let it sit for a little while, then you can use a damp cloth to start rinsing the carpet. You may want to have a bucket of clean water with you so that you can rinse out the cloth regularly.

If you are detailing your car, you don't want to forget to clean off your carpet.
